While living in Berlin I for a few months in 2003 worked as a studio assistant for one of our most interesting contemporary artist photographers: Thomas Demand.

Demand's studio was at that time situated in the converted warehouse building that now houses the Flick Collection; in the so-called "Rieckhallen" of the contemporary art museum Hamburger Bahnhof.

I was working on a production, in the artist signature paper craft, with preparations of/for the artwork Clearing, first shown at the Venice Biennale that same year.
The huge (192 x 495 cm) finished work showing a beautiful clearing in the (paper) woods at 1:1 scale, was placed in a city garden, and so created an optical illusion and a certain magic in several layers for the viewer.
